“My work lives in the space with you. More than a picture on a wall, it is texture with a pulse, something your hand reaches for before your mind catches up.”

Pelagic

Acrylic and sand, carved foam board on canvas36 × 48 in

Price on inquiryOriginal · One of One

The ocean off Southern California, held at full scale. Green shallows at the top dissolve into deep Pacific blue, and diagonal ridges cut through the surface like a current moving through kelp. The color darkens as the eye drops, the way sunlight gives out with depth. It is a horizon you can stand in front of and lose the room behind you.

Velvet After Hours

Acrylic and sand, carved foam board on canvas36 × 48 in

Price on inquiryOriginal · One of One

Los Angeles after dark, at the hour the city stops performing. Contours braid like streets, sound, and light trails, and the finish shifts violet to blue as you move past it, the way neon slides across a wet windshield. Up close it is soft and low. From across the room, it holds the whole wall.

Verdant Awakening

Acrylic and sand, carved foam board on canvas24 × 48 in

Price on inquiryOriginal · One of One

After the rains, the hills come back. Green rises out of black earth in ridge after ridge, the way new grass comes up in the Santa Monica Mountains. The piece is tall and narrow, and the growth climbs the whole height of it. It is Southern California's annual return, the land remembering how to be alive.

Ember

Acrylic and sand, carved foam board on canvas24 × 48 in

Price on inquiryOriginal · One of One

Ember was born from the 2025 Palisades and Eaton fires. Orange and red move across black in tight waves, like flame remembering itself. It holds the beauty of the burn and the grief of it in the same surface, a landscape caught in the middle of changing. It does not look away, and it does not let you look away either.

Superbloom

Acrylic and sand, carved foam board on canvas36 × 48 in

Price on inquiryOriginal · One of One

After a wet winter, the California desert holds its breath for a year, then lets go all at once. Hillsides turn to color as far as the eye can run, and magenta radiates from a single red heart at the center of this piece. At 36 by 48, the burst fills the wall. It is joy with the volume all the way up.

Confluence

Acrylic and sand, carved foam board on canvas18 × 24 in

Price on inquiryOriginal · One of One

Two rivers meet here. Sierra snowmelt runs cold from the top of California, and the valley runs warm beneath it. Where they join, in the Delta's braided channels, crimson folds into indigo and keeps moving. The surface carries the argument and the agreement at once. One river, made of two.

Fault Lines

Acrylic and sand, carved foam board on canvas18 × 24 in

Price on inquiryOriginal · One of One

Black seams run through terracotta tiles that shift and lock like plates of earth along a fault. The pattern that holds them is stronger than the one that cracked. California breaks. California holds. The beauty lives in the seam, in the exact place where the ground gave way and found a new way to stand.

Garnet

Acrylic and sand, carved foam board on canvas18 × 24 in

Price on inquiryOriginal · One of One

The color is the one a Napa pour shows when you hold it to the light. Deep red moves slow across the surface, warm and generous, like late sun on the vines and the first sip after a long day. It glows across the whole wall, and it does not rush.

Photosynthesis

Acrylic and sand, carved foam board on canvas18 × 24 in

Price on inquiryOriginal · One of One

Chartreuse rows twist toward the light, the way every green thing in the Central Valley twists toward the sun. Hungry, generous, alive. This is the land that feeds the country, caught in the act of growing, and the color keeps moving even when the room is still.

Ultraviolet

Acrylic and sand, carved foam board on canvas11 × 14 in

Price on inquiryOriginal · One of One

On certain nights the California surf answers with light. Plankton fire electric blue when the wave breaks, and this small swirl holds that exact charge. Violet, magenta, and neon cyan curl like a breaker about to glow. Small in size, loud in the room, pure night ocean.

Estuary

Acrylic and sand, carved foam board on canvas18 × 24 in

Price on inquiryOriginal · One of One

A green heart opens outward into river, marsh, bay, and Pacific. This is the in-between place, Morro Bay at low tide, Elkhorn Slough at dawn, where everything wild comes to feed, to rest, and to begin. The water loosens as it moves outward, and the piece loosens with it.

Fingerprint

Acrylic and sand, carved foam board on canvas16 × 20 in

Price on inquiryOriginal · One of One

A fingerprint whorl, scaled up until it becomes a wave. The barrel at Mavericks curling over Half Moon Bay. One print, impossible to repeat, pressed into carved relief. Identity, made into a wave, and large enough to stand in front of.

Cotton Candy

Acrylic and sand, carved foam board on canvas18 × 24 in

Price on inquiryOriginal · One of One

The exact pink and blue of the pier at dusk. Spun sugar in one hand, salt air in your hair, and the ridges swirling like candy pulled on the Santa Monica boardwalk, like the lights of the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk coming on. Pure California play, sweet and light, and gone too soon, so the piece holds the moment a little longer.

Redwood Understory

Acrylic and sand, carved foam board on canvas16 × 20 in

Price on inquiryOriginal · One of One

The forest floor in a redwood grove, at ground level. Fern, root, and fallen needle sit under a canopy that swallows sound. The green is cool and deep, with light filtering down in narrow bands. It is a small piece with a large silence in it, and it rewards standing close.

Smolder

Burnt orange rides over black in tight carved waves, coals breathing under ash. This is fire season at its quietest and most dangerous, not the flame, but the waiting. The glow refuses to go out. Small in size, it carries heat across the room.

Ebb and Flow

Acrylic and sand, carved foam board on canvasDiptych · 20 × 20 in each

Price on inquiryOriginal · One of One

Two panels breathe in opposite directions. One rolls in bright, all arrival and foam. The other pulls back dark, leaving everything glistening behind it. Stand between them and the Pacific is doing what it always does, giving and taking in the same motion, with you held in the exchange.

In the Same Light

Acrylic and sand, carved foam board on canvas36 × 48 in

Price on inquiryOriginal · One of One

Six faces rest in carved white waves, every head the same pale tone, every profile turned toward another. Where Face 2 Face meets in color, this piece meets in light. No contrast to hide behind. The white holds the whole piece, quiet as morning on the bay, and the faces appear slowly, then all at once.

Marine Layer

Price on inquiryOriginal · One of One

Three panels of white carved waves, and nothing else to see, which is exactly the point. This is the marine layer that pours over the coastal hills each June, erasing the city to a whisper. The ridges resolve like raked sand at low tide. At 84 inches wide, the fog fills the wall, and the room goes calm with it.

Face 2 Face

Acrylic and sand, carved foam board on canvas36 × 48 in

Price on inquiryOriginal · One of One

Six incorporated forms face each other across a rainbow current, close enough to be changed by the meeting. Cast in the same black, a mix of ethnicities and genders stands as one people. The color runs behind them like weather, and the faces hold the front of the piece. It was made for Pride season, for the held breath before connection, when every face is seen and every face is met.

About the Artist

Patrick Viray, Los Angeles studio, 2026

I’m Patrick Viray, a Filipino contemporary artist, born in the Philippines, raised in Chicago, and now based in Los Angeles. I make sculptural wall art, where texture does the talking.

My surfaces are layered, carved, and reworked by hand, then finished in saturated color, some with an iridescent quality that shifts as you move past them. The work changes with the light in the room, and that’s the point.

I’m drawn to contrast: the hard and the soft, the destructive and the beautiful, the quiet landscape and the loud city. Each piece starts as raw material and ends as something you want to reach out and touch.

The Conversation

We talk through your space, the size you need, and the colors and energy you want the piece to carry.

2.

The Build

I sculpt the relief by hand, layering, carving, and reworking acrylic, sand, and foam board until the surface moves the way it should.

3.

The Finish

Saturated color, an engraved PV signature plaque, and a signed certificate of authenticity. Then it’s ready to live in your space.
