Pelagic

Acrylic and sand, carved foam board on canvas36 × 48 in

Price on inquiryOriginal · One of One

Slide your palm down the gradient and you descend through California water: green shallows giving way to deep Pacific blue, sunlight dissolving as you go. The diagonal ridges pulse like a current through a kelp forest, steady and alive under your hand. Pelagic is the ocean's heartbeat, rendered in texture, the long Southern California horizon held in one surface.

Velvet After Hours

Acrylic and sand, carved foam board on canvas36 × 48 in

Price on inquiryOriginal · One of One

Run your fingers across this surface at midnight and the city answers. Contours braid like streets, sound waves, and light trails through Los Angeles after dark, and the finish shifts violet to blue as you move, the way neon slides across a wet windshield. Velvet After Hours is the pulse of the city when it finally exhales, soft as its name, electric to the touch.

Verdant Awakening

Acrylic and sand, carved foam board on canvas24 × 48 in

Price on inquiryOriginal · One of One

After the rains, the hills come back. Your fingertips roll over these contours the way wind rolls over new grass in the Santa Monica Mountains: ridge after ridge of green rising out of black earth. Verdant Awakening is Southern California's annual resurrection, the land remembering how to be alive, growth you can trace with an open palm.

Ember

Acrylic and sand, carved foam board on canvas24 × 48 in

Price on inquiryOriginal · One of One

Hold your hand close and the ridges move like flame remembering itself. Ember was born from the 2025 Palisades and Eaton fires, and it refuses to look away: the beauty of the burn and the grief of it, held in a single surface. Trace the waves and you feel a landscape mid-transformation, destruction and renewal breathing through the same skin.

Superbloom

Acrylic and sand, carved foam board on canvas36 × 48 in

Price on inquiryOriginal · One of One

Stand close and the burst pulls your hand in. After a wet winter the California desert holds its breath for a year, then exhales all at once: hillsides detonating into color as far as the eye can run. Superbloom is that exhale, magenta radiating from a single red heart, joy with the volume all the way up.

Confluence

Acrylic and sand, carved foam board on canvas18 × 24 in

Price on inquiryOriginal · One of One

Trace the surface and you can feel the exact ridge where two rivers argue, then agree. Sierra snowmelt runs cold from the top of California; the valley runs warm beneath it. Where they meet, in the Delta's braided channels, the current folds crimson into indigo and keeps moving. One river, made of two.

Fault Lines

Acrylic and sand, carved foam board on canvas18 × 24 in

Price on inquiryOriginal · One of One

Drag a fingertip along the black seams and you feel the whole story of this state: the break, then the mending. Terracotta tiles shift and lock like plates of earth along the fault, and the pattern that holds them is stronger than the one that cracked. California breaks. California holds. Beauty lives in the seam.

Garnet

Acrylic and sand, carved foam board on canvas18 × 24 in

Price on inquiryOriginal · One of One

The surface moves the way wine moves in a glass, slow and generous, and the color is the one a Napa pour shows when you hold it to the light. Garnet is late sun on the vines and the first sip after a long day: warm, deep, and impossible to rush. It glows across the whole wall.

Photosynthesis

Acrylic and sand, carved foam board on canvas18 × 24 in

Price on inquiryOriginal · One of One

Lay your palm flat and the rows roll under it like a field breathing. Chartreuse twists toward the light the way every green thing in the Central Valley twists toward the sun: hungry, generous, alive. This is the land that feeds the country, caught in the act of growing.

Ultraviolet

Acrylic and sand, carved foam board on canvas

Price on inquiryOriginal · One of One

On certain nights the California surf answers touch with light. Plankton fire electric blue when the wave breaks, and this small swirl holds that exact charge: violet, magenta, and neon cyan curling like a breaker about to glow. Small in size, loud in the room, pure night ocean.

Estuary

Acrylic and sand, carved foam board on canvas18 × 24 in

Price on inquiryOriginal · One of One

Follow the green heart outward with one finger and you travel the whole journey of California water: river loosening into marsh, marsh opening into bay, bay breathing into the Pacific. Estuary is the in-between place, Morro Bay at low tide, Elkhorn Slough at dawn, where everything wild comes to feed, to rest, to begin.

Fingerprint

Acrylic and sand, carved foam board on canvas

Price on inquiryOriginal · One of One

Your fingertip already knows this pattern. It is the whorl you carry on your own skin, scaled up until it becomes a wave: the barrel at Mavericks curling over Half Moon Bay. One print, impossible to repeat, pressed into carved relief. Identity you can read by touch.

Cotton Candy

Acrylic and sand, carved foam board on canvas18 × 24 in

Price on inquiryOriginal · One of One

This is the exact pink and blue of the pier at dusk, spun sugar in one hand and salt air in your hair. The ridges swirl like candy pulled on the Santa Monica boardwalk, like the lights of the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk coming on. Pure California play: sweet, light, and gone too soon, so you hold the moment a little longer.

Redwood Understory

Acrylic and sand, carved foam board on canvas

Run your fingers down these ridges and you are touching the forest floor: fern, root, and fallen needle under a canopy that swallows sound. This is the hush of a redwood grove at ground level, cool shade on skin, green light filtering through giants. Small in size, endless up close.

Smolder

Acrylic and sand, carved foam board on canvas

Hold your palm an inch above the surface and you would swear it gives off heat. Burnt orange rides over black in tight carved waves, coals breathing under ash. This is fire season at its quietest and most dangerous: not the flame, but the waiting. The glow that refuses to go out.

Ebb and Flow

Acrylic and sand, carved foam board on canvas

Price on inquiryOriginal · One of One

Two panels breathe in opposite directions. One rolls in bright, all arrival and foam; the other pulls back dark, leaving everything glistening behind it. Stand between them and you feel the tug every California beach knows by heart: the Pacific giving, the Pacific taking, and you, held in the exchange.

In the Same Light

Acrylic and sand, carved foam board on canvas

Price on inquiryOriginal · One of One

Find them the way fog finds a coastline: slowly, then all at once. Six faces rest in carved white waves, every head the same pale tone, every profile turned toward another. Where Face 2 Face meets in color, this piece meets in light: no contrast to hide behind, only touch to tell you who is here. Run your palm across and the room fills, quiet as morning on the bay.

Price on inquiryOriginal · One of One

Three panels of white carved waves, and nothing else to see, which is exactly the point. This is the marine layer that pours over the coastal hills each June, erasing the city to a whisper. Your eyes get fog; your hands get weather. Trace the ridges and the pattern resolves like raked sand at low tide, calm you can read by touch alone.

Face 2 Face

Acrylic and sand, carved foam board on canvas36 × 48 in

Price on inquiryOriginal · One of One

Run a hand across the rainbow current and you find them by touch first: six faces turned toward one another, close enough to be changed by the meeting. Cast in the same black, a mix of ethnicities and genders stands here as one people. Every face is seen. Every face is met. It is the held breath before connection, the courage to face the world exactly as you are, and the joy of finding love facing you back.

About the Artist

Patrick Viray, Los Angeles studio, 2026

I’m Patrick Viray, a Filipino contemporary artist, born in the Philippines, raised in Chicago, and now based in Los Angeles. I make sculptural wall art, where texture does the talking.

My surfaces are layered, carved, and reworked by hand, then finished in saturated color, some with an iridescent quality that shifts as you move past them. The work changes with the light in the room, and that’s the point.

I’m drawn to contrast: the hard and the soft, the destructive and the beautiful, the quiet landscape and the loud city. Each piece starts as raw material and ends as something you want to reach out and touch.

The Conversation

We talk through your space, the size you need, and the colors and energy you want the piece to carry.

2.

The Build

I sculpt the relief by hand, layering, carving, and reworking acrylic, sand, and foam board until the surface moves the way it should.

3.

The Finish

Saturated color, an engraved PV signature plaque, and a signed certificate of authenticity. Then it’s ready to live in your space.
